Contract
awarded for the replacement of Pier #11

American
Bridge/McLean Pier #11 Constructors, a joint venture between McLean
Contracting Company and American Bridge were awarded the Replacement
of Pier #11 project from NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic on March 1, 2005 for
$91,552,110.00. The first phase of this project includes the demolition
of a 1300 LF concrete pier structure, an 800 LF cellular breakwater
system, as well as some miscellaneous timber piers. The second phase
of this project includes the construction of a new 1600 LF double
deck concrete carrier pier supported by 36 & 54
diameter prestressed concrete cylinder piles with a concrete relieving
platform supported by 18 square concrete piles and a concrete
sheetpile bulkhead. McLean Contracting Companys portion of
the work is $35,972,998.00, which includes all the demolition, piledriving
and concrete work associated with the first level of the double
deck pier and all the relieving platform work. Work to commence
in the fall of 2005.
